Basé à Cologne, le protéiforme Till Rohmann aka Glitterbug (fondateur de la plateforme C. Sides Label, Dj, Producteur) nous offre enfin son premier album Supershelter, et la surprise est réellement de taille, car comment définir cet objet fantastique qui sous sa pochette dépouillée ne laisse pas entrevoir toute la beauté qui se cache sur ses sillons. Mélangeant habilement sonorités chaudes issue de la deep house, pieds techno, abstraction electronica, instrumentation classique tels que harpes, cordes, accordéon… Glitterbug fascine de par sa façon de juxtaposer les sonorités, d’agencer les mélodies qui se chevauchent sans se marcher dessus, procurant une poussée de fièvre amoureuse tout le long de ces 12 tracks tous plus captivant les uns que les autres, le tout avec un sens de l’équilibre flirtant avec la perfection, une musique aux abords squelettiques qui se révèle parfois métaphysique. Un opus tout en subtilité qui fait rimer danse avec élégance, acoustique avec électronique. Vital.

“Nase voll von den immer gleichen Deep-House-Chords und auf der Suche nach dem wahren Geist elektronischer Musik, der sich einen Dreck um Genre-Bezeichnungen und Technogesetze schert? Dann ist dieses wundervolle Album von Glitterbug (war mir bisher ehrlich gesagt gänzlich unbekannt) auf dem deutsch-israelischem Label C.Sides mit einer Spiellänge von 77 Minuten genau das richtige. Hier existieren Trance-Arpeggios, minimale House-Einode, Orchesterbläser und ein Akkordeon in einer trauten Eintracht, die ihresgleichen sucht. Das Album schielt nicht auf den Floor, sondern ist perfekter Techno für das Auto oder zum Zuhausehören. Man stelle sich eine Mischung aus Dial- und Karaoke-Kalk-Platten vor, dann kommt man dem Klangerlebnis schon recht nahe.”

“Till Rohmann (Glitterbug) dirigeert zijn dansmuziek meer dan dat hij ze programmeert. Harpen, accordeons, ritmeboxen, violen en technobassen hebben een evenwaardige plaats in de concertbak.
‘Intro’ heet de openingstrack. Maar met drie orgeltonen die voortdurend herhaald worden en een piano die daar overheen springt, is dit geen gewone zondagse intrede in de kerk van de house. ‘Up north’ trekt die ongewone lijn door: halfweg hoor je een enthousiast livepubliek uitbarsten, terwijl de klanken eromheen nauwelijks naar euforie neigen. Deze beats stuwen een modern-klassieke compositie voort, die zwanger is van soundtrack-suspense en ingehouden epiek.
Breaks in een nummer zijn elegante ambientminiaturen, die telkens een nieuwe toon zetten. In ‘Brontohouse’ is dat een laatste tango in Parijs. In ‘Oh my hick!’ een ingehouden klaroen bij een abstract jachttafereel.
